Watch the clip for the band's next single on NME.COM

Arctic Monkeys have posted the video for new single 'Cornerstone' online – and you can watch it here.

The song from third album 'Humbug' is released on November 16, and will again see the band release a special vinyl edition of the single via Oxfam's charity shops.

The video itself was directed by Richard Ayaode, and features just frontman Alex Turner singing into a retro tape recorder.

what the hell? surely this can't be the proper video? Stuff Richard Ayoade even I could have directed that! Surely this shows Arctic Monkeys have well and truly lost it?

not just awful, but god awful. he was once such a nice boy who wrote lovely songs, now he just seems to be a poser. Perhaps if he spent more time on his music rather than his increasingly ridiculous haircuts...

I reckon that they'll soon change their name to "Alex and the Machine". I noticed at Reading that AT exited the stage before his "backing band" at the end of the show.

I didn't realise that the Monkeys were suffering in the recession. I see that they had a small budget for this vid...Although it's quite funny i suppose...GET A HAIRCUT ALEX!

I love it. Three minuets and 25 seconds of pure Alex Turner, couldn't get any better..That aside it is ridiculous how much money Richard Ayaode will get for 'directing' this. It's simple, artistic and shows promise for the witty, quirky Arctic Monkeys that we used to know and love..

Anyone who disliked this is extremely boring. This is a magical expression of all that Arctic Monkeys stand for. It's an incredible song, they can do what they want without making a high budget video which distracts you from the beauty of the song. If they gave a damn about pleasing idiots like the others who have posted comments on this page they wouldn't be so brilliant. End of.

I don't really have a major problem with the video, it's different at least. I just think they could have done something a little more creative with such a brillianty worded song.I don't think they've lost it, their new album was easily the best I've heard this year.

haha, the posts above really dont get it. Its a joke and a piss take. Its just another of their many attempts to lose their casual 'indie' fan base who dont really get their music. Also its really gonna stand out against the hundreds of £1000-air-brushed videos on tvs. Humbug is such an improvement on their last albums, just that narrow minded people aint gonna be able to follow.

I think the video is quality! Really quite funny, Arctic Monkeys are still the biggest and best band in the world. Anyone who disagree's can get bent!
