Pete Doherty's drug order revoked by judge

'I vow to stay off drugs,' says Babyshambles frontman

Babyshambles' frontman Pete Doherty’s drug order, which had required him to remain on a supervised drug rehabilitation course for the next six months, was revoked this morning (October 24).

The singer attended Thames Magistrates Court where magistrate Jane McIvor, making a decision based on advice from medical experts who had supervised Doherty, chose to cancel the order.

Outside the court, the Babyshambles singer told Reuters of his desire to give up drugs for good.

“I think I am going to have to [give up drugs]”, he said. “I have kind of had enough really. It is just the beginning, you know what I mean, in their [the court’s] eyes. My life has changed, but I'm still a little bit wobbly. I am taking it one day at a time.”

Doherty then said he wanted to “get on the road with the boys” and tour with Babyshambles.

The singer is due in West London Magistrates Court on Friday (October 26) to be sentenced for drug and driving offences.

Due to his good progress in drug rehabilitation it is believed that he will receive a lenient non-custodial sentence.
