Status Quo: 'Glastonbury festival is second rate' - Daily Gossip

Courtney Love, Lily Allen, Johnny Borrell – your music gossip stop

Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.

Today’s top gossip:

Status Quo's Rick Parfitt has said that Glastonbury is just "another festival".

Despite the ageing rockers being on the line-up on the Pyramid Stage this Sunday (June 28), Parfitt said he isn't particularly bothered about the gig. "It's got this stigma attached to it where people say, 'Once you've done Glastonbury your cred will go up'," he explained. "I don't see that it will."

Bandmate Francis Rossi also lambasted Glastonbury, saying he remembers it as a "second-rate" folk festival with "weird" acts like Hawkwind. "It fascinates me how that gig has become groovy," he commented (The Sun).

From the papers:

Courtney Love was photographed looking pale and thin in New York (Various).

Johnny Borrell nearly left a CD of new Razorlight demos behind at a Wimbledon bar after enjoying a day watching the tennis (Daily Star).

Lily Allen ate at Nobu in London with her ex, Seb Chew, sporting a blonde wig (Various).

Madonna is designing a replica of her English country house in Manhattan (Daily Mirror).

Jamie Hince and Kate Moss went shopping in London's South Molton Street (The Sun).

Kelly Osbourne shunned a holiday with friends in St Lucia because she didn't want to bump into Amy Winehouse, who is currently living on the island (Daily Star).

E-mailed in from NME.COM users:

Peter Kay and JK Rowling were standing together at Take That's Glasgow gig at Hampden Park on Saturday night (June 20) (From Stuart Gray).
