Fatboy Slim's Brighton beach concert cancelled

Big Beach Boutique 5 pulled

Fatboy Slim's Brighton Big Beach Boutique 5 concert, which had been set to take place in the coastal city on the weekend of September 4 and 5, has been cancelled.

Brighton And Hove City Council confirmed that the DJ had cancelled the event, saying that they were disappointed at the news, reports BBC News.

Fatboy Slim, real name Norman Cook, had a stint in rehab in March to battle an alcohol addiction.

Around 20,000 people attended the event last year. It was set to take place on Madeira Drive.

The 2002 inaugural Big Beach Boutique event saw 250,000 people descend on Brighton despite only 60,000 people being originally expected.

Good move - in these recessionary times the last thing any council would want is a large number of people heading to your town. Imagine the extra takings .

Good, it was a crap gig anyway. It's not on the beach anymore but on a narrow road beside it.

Indeed, its not like Brighton is short on large venues, parks or indeed a very large beach on which to hold a larger event. And a September event as well just when the holiday market is dropping off and people are around to enjoy it - someone deserves a bonus down at Brighton and Hove council!
