Iggy Pop car insurance advert banned
It comes after the company refuses to insure musicians
An insurance TV advert featuring Iggy Pop has been ordered not to be broadcast in future, after being judged "misleading" by advertising authorities.
The Swiftcover advert sees Pop state: "I got it Swiftcovered. I got insurance on my insurance!"
However, as NME.COM reported in February, Swiftcover doesn't actually provide car insurance to entertainers.
Following complaints by 12 people about the clip, the Advertising Standards Authority has now ruled that the advert was misleading.
A report published on ASA.org.uk ruled that the advert was deceptive.
"Because the policy was promoted by a well-known musician, which might lead some viewers to believe the policy covered those who worked in entertainment, when it did not, and because Iggy Pop did not have a policy with Swiftcover, we concluded the ad was misleading."
The report said that the advert "must not be broadcast again in its current form".
