Kaiser Chiefs: 'We'd support Blur if they asked us'

Band declare Damon Albarn and co's reunion 'brilliant'

Kaiser Chiefs have thrown their hat into the ring if Blur are looking for support bands for their Hyde Park reformation show on July 3.

Bassist Simon Rix admitted that his first thought upon hearing that Blur had reunited was that his band would be asked to open for their heroes.

He said: "I was in my car and heard it. And I thought, 'We're going to get asked to play that gig - will we do it?'"

Drummer Nick Hodgson, however, was in no doubt they would support his heroes if asked, though he explained he's less sure they will get offered the gig.

"I'd like to do it," he declared. "I don't think we'll get asked."

Hodgson heaped praise on Blur for getting back together, telling BBC Newsbeat: "It's brilliant. I'm very pleased - normally I hate reunions. This doesn't feel like a reunion."

The drummer continued: "I like this because it actually feels like unfinished business and they've actually got something to do it for. They've actually reunited as opposed to got back together for a load of cash. I think The Stone Roses could do the same thing."

For the full exclusive joint interview with Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon on Blur's reformation get this week's issue of NME, on UK newsstands now.

Ha ha ha, yeh I'm pretty sure Blur would wan't talentless wankers like the Kaiser Chuffs to back them up, they must think they're really that good, they're pish and always have been.

Kaiser W@nk. Why would anyone in their right minds ask you shower of sh*te to support them? Maybe you could close for Blur and empty Hyde Park in record time?

I think Oasis should support, as for the Kaiser Chief's, your last two albums were aweful, and when you tried to do 'Getting Better' on the Beatles album....you were embarrassing, genuinly embarrassing. Knob off - please dis-band, please, we've had enough now lads.

If Noel's recent comments of Damon Albarn being a great artist is true then he should be happy to support Blur if asked ;)

Oasis support blur hahahahahahaha, you cant talk about these 2 bands in the same breath anymore. Admittedly they might be worth seeing finally as it will be a greatest hits tour almost and can discard the other 95% of crap they wrote.

Kinda funny how people are mocking Kaiser Chiefs' ability to support "The Mighty Blur" lol I think they'd go well together, they both suck and blow at the same time. At least the streets would be a decent place for a night, all the assholes would be holed up in Hyde Park, much like the recent Oasis tour. Nights out are noticably nicer when 20,000 plus Oasis fans are locked up away from the city centre lol

Dec 12, 2008

Some harsh words for the Kaiser boys and i have to agree with all of them! KCs best songs dont even hold a candle to the very worst Blur b-side, the people have spoken Ricky and co...your remaining fans are the "chavs" that you have spent years taking the piss out off, these people dont do irony Ricky! oh sweet injustice!

Can't people post more intelligent things than some of the stuff on this? Fair enough, you don't like them but at least give some acceptable reasons for not liking them. In my opinion, Kaiser Chiefs are a great band and I really hope they support Blur. And as for Oasis supporting Blur.. Are you people having a laugh?? Seriously?
