Kaiser Chiefs return to get Reading Festival singing

Band overcome windy conditions to get crowd shouting along

Kaiser Chiefs made their return to the UK live scene tonight (August 28) at Reading Festival.

The band, who have been largely absent from gigging on home turf this summer, got the Main Stage crowd dancing and singing as they played ahead of headliners Kings Of Leon.

"Are you in a dancing mood? Are you in a singing mood?" asked frontman Ricky Wilson, sporting long-ish hair, early on in the set. "You better fucking be!"

Playing a set drawn from all three of their albums, the band battled through windy conditions which effected the sound quality as they played the likes of 'Ruby' and 'Can't Say What I Mean'.

They then revealed that, like Florence And The Machine, who earlier played at the festival, they too had a birthday to celebrate, dedicating 'Modern Age' to guitarist Whitey.

Following a loud sing-a-long for 'I Predict A Riot', Kaiser Chiefs ramped things up further.

"I think you're ready," Wilson told the crowd. "You can sing, you can clap, you can dance, you can have a good time, you can make the loudest noise you ever have - now double it!"

The band and crowd then combined to sing a chorus together, the set ending with a raucous version of 'Oh My God'.

Kaiser Chiefs played:

'Never Miss A Beat'
'Everyday I Love You Less And Less'
'Ruby'
'Can't Say What I Mean'
'Love's Not A Competition (But I'm Winning)'
'Like It Too Much'
'Modern Way'
'You Want History'
'I Predict A Riot'
'Angry Mob'
'Take My Temperature'
'Oh My God'
