Kaiser Chiefs at Leeds Festival: 'We're not splitting up'

Kaiser Chiefs' Nick Hodgson has declared that the band are not splitting up, following rumours on Twitter that the Leeds act were set to wind down and not release any more albums.

Earlier today (August 30), XFM news reporter Sunta Templeton posted messages on Twitter claiming after an interview with them that there would be no more albums from the band. She also claimed that their Main Stage show today at the Leeds Festival "could be the end" for them.

The band also currently have no future dates scheduled for the year.

However, after reading the tweet, Hodgson told NME.COM: "People only write sensationalist stuff on Twitter so people will read it. I can definitely confirm that XFM have got it wrong."

Following the statement, the drummer and his band played a slot on the closing day of the festival, which saw 'Everything Is Average Nowadays' added to the running order of songs played at Reading on Friday (August 28).

Frontman Ricky Wilson appeared to relish being back in his hometown, stating fans were more enthusiastic than at the Berkshire leg of the event.

"You're making Reading look like playschool," he said before the band launched into 'Ruby'.

The singer later described the audience at the southern leg of the festival as "miserable bastards" after a raucous 'I Predict A Riot'.

The band's set focused mainly on their biggest hits - such as 'I Predict A Riot' and 'Everyday I Love You Less And Less' - with Wilson explaining that the band were bringing out their "big guns".

'Take My Temperature' saw the singer head to the barrier to mingle with fans, before announcing mid-song that Kaiser Chiefs "are my favourite fucking band in the whole world".

Before closing the set with a riotous 'Oh My God', the band gave a nod to Oasis in light of their recent split, with Hodgson pounding out 'Live Forever''s unmistakable opening beat.
