Klaxons recording new album in solar-powered studio

Band show their appreciation by joining the 'We Support Solar' campaign

Klaxons are recording their second album in a solar-powered studio.

They band made the announcement when revealing their backing for the We Support Solar campaign.

Aiming to highlight the relevance of the upcoming tariffs on solar use, We Support Solar is already backed by Lily Allen, along with 200 MPs and Greenpeace.

The London band's second album is currently being recorded in solar-powered studio The Premises in the UK capital. The complex is the UK's only recording studio to generate clean energy from daylight.

Speaking of their support for the cause, Klaxons said in a statement: "We're proud to back the We Support Solar campaign. We use The Premises solar-powered recording studio and we know how important solar power is to the delivery of a low carbon UK."

With the exact details of the forthcoming government tariff (which is set to be introduced in the UK in 2010) still unclear, organisers of the campaign hope that their work will help create new jobs as well as save the environment.

See Wesupportsolar.net for more information.

As previously reported, Klaxons had to re-record parts of the follow-up to 2007's 'Myths Of The Near Future' after their record label initially rejected it.

Why do I find it difficult to believe the phrase: "we know how important solar power is to the delivery of a low carbon UK" came directly out of any Klaxon mouth? www.riphertoshreds.co.uk

SO ! Now green is trendy....having stupid haircuts and dull music used to be enough: now ya gotta have POLITICAL CONVICTIONS in order to get attention. What ever happened to writing fun, memorable music? Or is that too much to ask?

Klaxons have admitted they were told to re-record their second album after their label rejected their first efforts. The nu-rave kings have been working on the follow-up to 'Myths Of The Near Future' with producer James Ford since last year, but rumours that all was not well with the sessions began reaching NME's ears recently.
