Mercury Rev pay tribute to John Lennon
The band cover one of his songs at London show
Mercury Rev paid tribute to John Lennon at their London show last night (December 8).
The band was playing a one-off show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, on the 25th anniversary of The Beatles' legend’s murder.
To mark the occasion, the Rev played ‘God’, a track lifted from Lennon’s 1970 ‘Plastic Ono Band’ album. The crowd broke into a round of applause when they realised what was being performed.
Mercury Rev also covered Bob Dylan’s ‘Gotta Serve Somebody’, though the performance was dominated by songs from the band’s most recent album ‘The Secret Migration’.
