Roger Waters to play 'Dark Side Of The Moon' live in the UK

Plus star set to play other Pink Floyd classics in May

Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters and his band will perform his band’s classic 1973 album, 'Dark Side Of The Moon', in its entirety at two UK gigs.

The star will perform at the Liverpool Echo Arena on May 15 and at London’s O2 Arena on May 18.

Waters will open both the gigs with a set featuring classic Pink Floyd songs, including some from the band’s 1979 album 'The Wall'. He will play the whole of 'Dark Side Of The Moon' for the second half of the shows.

In a statement Waters has promised that the shows will boast "state of the art" staging, lighting and sound.

'Classic' having become a synonym for over-rated, dull and favoured by followers of critics. The cokeheaded Dark Side of the Moon was the mid-point of Floyd's descent into shallow tedium; The Wall completed the journey to its inane end. I'd recommend their first album wholeheartedly though. And if you must have hair-rock, Live at Pompeii would do at a pinch.

Thanks for your input Milky Disco...where can we pick up your sonic masterpiece? Actually...critics HATED Dark Side when it came out. I love 'Piper'...I have since I was seven years old. I also love most of everything else Pink Floyd has put out since. What is hair-rock? I have NO idea what you are blabbering on about. It seems the hipster way these days to praise 'Piper' but disregard everything else Floyd put out as meandering trash. I can get down with gnomes and Jupiter and Saturn, but I occasionally need some coherence and direction, and to feel deeply moved by music, which 'Piper' can't really provide, but something like 'Dark Side' and 'The Wall' can. That is all for now.

this is fantastic news. i saw waters on his 2007 UK tour and he was brilliant. this is a unique chance to hear the massive DSoTM live in its entirety and should not be missed, as this looks to be the very last dates of his tour.

'Tronny' is right about the critics, they didn't care for "D.S.O.T.M." and couldn't understand it lyrically or musically, especially in the states where, hell, the critics here are as political as 'real' politicians. This WILL be a great show. Unfortunately, many people could only open their 'inner' doors and understand this type of creativity by listening to this album or, for that matter, other Floyd albums by being under an influential state. Again, I would love to go and see this live.....

Some days before he'll be playing the same gig in Granada, Spain. I wish I could go, I'm sure it'll be fantastic, but I'm afraid it is impossible for me.

tronny: You know that people arent reading reviews from 1973. It is indisputable that this holy cow of a record has been a critics fave for over 2 decades and having been deemed _a classic_ has attracted a sheep-like following. Hair-rock? Hair and rock in heavy communion - have you never seen Live at Pompeii?

roxette: are you really saying that people need to be stoned to like Floyds records?
