Radiohead say they will still keep making albums

Radiohead have denied they have given up on making albums, and plan to release a new one on physical formats next year.

Ed O'Brien told NME.COM that the band were set to record the album this winter in Oxfordshire with long-term producer Nigel Godrich. He quashed hints that Thom Yorke made earlier this year that suggested the band may move away from conventional album releases.

The guitarist said that whether the album came out as a download before the physical release or not, it would definitely be available on vinyl and CD. "WE WILL BE MAKING AN ALBUM!" he jokingly outlined. "We love the artwork; that's really important to us, the physicality. And we like vinyl. That's not going to go away."

The guitarist went on to say that he expected the coming season to influence the album recording. "Typical Radiohead," he laughed. "We're going into the studio in winter. It's always miserable! When you're in a studio in the countryside the music you make is definitely affected by what season it is."

Radiohead frontman Yorke has recently been playing solo shows in Los Angeles. O'Brien, meanwhile, has been working with the Featured Artists Coalition on the issue of illegal downloading.
