Oprah weighs in on Rihanna-Chris Brown debacle

TV queen says 'He will hit you again'

Oprah Winfrey offered her opinion on the Rihanna- Chris Brown case, and suggested the pair have counselling.

The star was speaking on her TV show on Friday (March 6).

The talk show queen said: "Both Chris Brown and Rihanna, if I were your friend, I'd call you up and say, 'Give it some time. Get yourself some counselling. Take care of yourself. Heal yourself first.'"

Winfrey also said that domestic violence is not a one-off occurrence, and told the audience: "If a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again."

Brown appeared in court in Los Angeles on Thursday (March 5) on charges of assault likely to cause great bodily injury and making criminal threats. He was ordered by a court commissioner not to harass, threaten or harm anyone.

The felony complaint identified Rihanna by the name Robyn F. Her full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty. If Brown is convicted he faces up to eight years in prison.

A detective's affidavit says that Brown shoved Rihanna’s head against the window of his car, repeatedly punched and bit her and put her in a headlock so that she almost lost consciousness.

The attack happened after Rihanna read a text message from a woman on Brown's phone. He allegedly tried to push her out of the car, a rented Lamborghini, but she was wearing a seatbelt.
