The Subways ready new album The Subways Tickets

The trio record with famed producer in LA

The Subways have been in Los Angeles for the past few weeks recording the follow-up to their 2006 debut album 'Young For Eternity'.

The trio have been working with famed producer Butch Vig [Nirvana, ] and plan to release the as-yet untitled album in early 2008.

"It's been blood, sweat and tears making this new record," frontman Billy Lunn told NME.COM.

"We made the first album when we were so young and we've learnt so many things. We were like sponges."

Lunn said that they've applied these lessons to recording the new album, which contains the straight-ahead, guitar-driven rock tracks that Subways fans have become familiar with, as well as a more polished edge.

"The sessions were great --we literally finished last night," said Vig on Wednesday (October 17).

"I fucking loved making this record with them. They have so much energy. They're really good players--one or two takes and we were done," he added.

Vig said that the band laid down 16 tracks and plan to narrow it down to about 12 that will end up on the album.

He described the new song 'Kalifornia' as a cross between punk and prog rock. Other song titles include 'Girls And Boys' and 'I Won't Let You Down'.

"The songs are about how much you don't know about life, and love, death and new beginnings," said Lunn.
