Dead Weather play surprise London show in front of Beastie Boys, Horrors and more

Jack White and Alison Mosshart's band perform at packed club

The Dead Weather played a packed pub gig in London last night (June 23).

The supergroup performed a last-minute show at the Boston Arms in north London – previously the scene of a 2001 gig by The White Stripes, when Jack White and co first visited the UK.

The band, featuring White on drums and The Kills Alison Mosshart on vocals played a 45-minute set drawn from forthcoming debut album 'Horehound', including the likes of 'Treat Me Like Your Mother' and first single 'Hang You From The Heavens'.

Playing in front of a packed crowd that included Beastie Boys, The Horrors, Carl Barat, The Mighty Boosh's Julian Barratt and Kimberly Stewart, White swapped from drums to guitar for one song near the gig's highlight.

The Dead Weather play the HMV Forum tonight. Meanwhile White will be exclusively live on NME Radio on Thursday (June 25).

The singer will be talking to Iain Baker, tune in from 3pm (BST) via Sky 0184, Virgin Media 975, Freesat 727, DAB in London or via NME.COM/Radio.

'Horehound' is out on July 13.
