Bono makes appearance at David Cameron's Conservative Party conference speech

U2 frontman Bono made an appearance at the Conservative Party leader David Cameron's conference speech today (October 8) via a video link.

A video interview with Bono was played to the audience at the Manchester Central complex a few minutes before Cameron took to the stage to delivery his speech.

In it, the U2 singer praised the Conservatives for their pledge to preserve Britain's commitments on international aid.

At last week's Labour Party conference in Brighton, Bono made a similar video appearance, where he praised Prime Minister Gordon Brown's "staggering" results on development. In 2004, Bono made a personal appearance at the Labour Party conference, again speaking to the audience about world poverty.

Before coming onstage to deliver his speech today, Cameron's audience were played music by acts including Coldplay, The Killers and ELO.
