First record bought
'In The City' by The Jam, from a record shop in Salisbury - 69 pence. First album was the first Clash LP.

Favourite ever album
There's so many! 'ha!-ha!-ha!' by Ultravox!, 'Love Junk' by The Pursuit Of Happiness, 'Pink Moon' by Nick Drake and 'Tigermilk' by Belle & Sebastian would be top of the pile.

First gig
The first "big" gig I went to was Duran Duran in 1981, when they were still cool!

Best gig
Hands-down, no doubt about it, the best ever was The Jesus And Mary Chain at the London ICA, December 1984.

First festival
Reading, 1986. Hawkwind and The Mission getting the 'bottle of piss' treatment.

Best ever festival
The year my band (Jesus Jones) played Glasto (1990) was good, how can you top appearing on the Pyramid Stage? The gig was great, then I got drunk, tried to punch Jonathan King and got spannered with Bez from Happy Mondays. Just say no, kids.

Favourite ever band
Ultravox! from 76-79, Lowgold, TPOH, The Flys, The Members, Belle And Sebastian, Sukpatch, Prego.

The band that should have achieved more
Lowgold. The best British band of the last 20 years.
