NME once knew a boy who liked watching The Smell Of Reeves And Mortimer while getting ‘intimate’ with his girlfriend, pausing to point out when there was a really good bit coming up. They’ve split up now, but their memory lives on thanks to the UK’s biggest authority on awkward teenage sexual liaisons, Eddie Argos. “I know I shouldn’t/Is it so wrong?/To break from your kiss to turn up a pop song?” he laments on a record guaranteed to have every music nerd from Peckham to Peru wincing in recognition and punching the air simultaneously.
