Mystery Jets

Mystery Jets’ transformation from dad-ditching rabble-rousers to epic heartbreakers continues apace with ‘Young Love’, thanks in no small part to the guest star, angel-voiced Laura Marling. A couple have “one night of love”, she writes her number on his hand, it washes off in the rain… tragedy! Erol Alkan’s glistening production brushes the whole thing up to a diamond shine, but it’s the Jets’ summation of youthful innocence tinged with regret that renders this duet so indelible. If this is intended to whet our appetites for the imminent release of their second album ‘21’, consider us famished.

This cutsie and very light-hearted song is a breath of fresh air in an ever growing musical world of robotic, synthesised and electronic music. Its adorable; made even better by the frank and old-fashioned romantic lyrics ('you wrote your number on my hand but it came off in the rain'), and the appearance of Laura Marling and her wonderfully strange singing voice. Love it!

Mysterty Jets - Twenty One album review

Mystery Jets return with their eagerly anticapted second album named "Twenty One", their first single unknown to some "Flakes" realeased at the end of
2007 is a slow paced, thought provoking sonnet. Perhaps to the troubles of forgotten dreams and ones self thereapy of reavealing something the narrator
didn't expect, with the first opening line "This song is one I never thought I'd play"
Now onto the more well known "Young Love" the more commercial sounds of the Mystery Jets, or simply called the one teenieboppie song on the album,
featuring vocals from a new upcoming Laura Marling delivers a fun and easy to listen, stick in your head pop song.
Overall the Mystery Jets manage to create a successfully follow up to "Making Dens" with many of the songs being stuck in my head, for once
I can't find much wrong with this album something that nowadays seems difficult to do.
