The Hives

Tick Tick Boom

Guitar riffs patched in from 1955. “Yeeeeeaaahhhhs” and “What you waaaaiting foooors” wailed aplenty. Drumming so rudimentary it makes Ringo look like John Bonham. This can only mean one thing: The Hives are back. While the preppy-happy five have been preening and prancing across stages all summer, it took until now to detonate this. Obviously the band and entourage expect to see this exploding like a nuclear blast, shattering every cochlea in its mushroom cloud wake, but a lot’s happened since ‘Walk Idiot Walk’. This, in comparison to Klaxons, poofs out of the stereo. Which is fine, but no more.

Straight into action is the Hives' latest bout of guitar-laden rock. With more simple but effective guitar riffs and drumming that puts everyone in their place, Pelle leads The Hives with his "yeaaaaahs" right from the front. We know that they are back and back with a bang! A very catchy chorus adds to this and we know that everyone will be singing Tick...Tick...Boom in the front rows when they venture over the border for a series of UK shows.
