Franz apart, Glasgow’s struggled for indie heroes of late but The Royal We have something about them. With a nod to a Weedgie pop past – think Orange Juice and ’80s landmark label Postcard – this is clever, girl-led guitar pop. Although little more than an extended EP, it ends with a violin-led take on Chris Isaak’s rock gem, ‘Wicked Game’. Strange.
