These New Puritans

Colours/Numbers

Somebody once attempted to convince us that These New Puritans are original. They failed: onstage, the guy looks and twitches just like Ian Curtis, and musically, they sound pretty much exactly the same as The Fall. This is just the kind of oh-so-trendy noughties electro racket that probably sounds great when you’re off your tits, but like an E’d-up fool gurning in your sober face, it’s just plain annoying when you’re not. “Every number has a meaning” deadpans vocalist Jack Barnett on ‘Numbers’. We couldn’t agree more: four out of 10 means, TNP, you’re a bit rubbish.

I'm looking forward to this reviewer being proved wrong. These New Puritans have been popular for a long time with people who keep a close eye on new music, they have played hugely successful shows in London and across the UK, and they are set to impress when their debut is released. I think you'll be a bit embarrassed with this review and probably forget it was written when you are forced to change your mind and print superlatives to keep up with the rest of the press.

i don't understand the nme, how come the love bands like white lies, friendly fires, oasis and la roux and really big them up even though they really aren't that good, but bands which are they destroy and are the proved wrong when the album sells or they become popular and in true nme style jump on the band wagon. The nme has never been a good thing, has it? Don't reply with a message saying this comment is bias or completely opiniated, it is a response to an article which is just that.postscript.these new puritans are fantastic.
